Sunday night, Allan welcomes one of Rock n' Roll's greatest
vocalists, Burton Cummings of The Guess Who. Cummings and
the Guess Who brought you American Woman, No Time, Undun,
Share The Land and many other classics. Rolling Stone calls
The Guess Who "One of Rock's most consistently, fascinating
maverick bands". They led the Canadian invasion of artists
like Neil Young, Rush, Bryan Adams and Loverboy with some
of the best music ever recorded. They laid the musical foundation,
which led to Rock FM's dominance over "Top-40" radio.
In 1969, just as American Woman became number one in the country,
Randy Bachman left the band. Why? What happened? It's an amazing
story.
Now, the original hit-making team of Cummings and Bachman
is back as The Guess Who, touring for the first time in 30
years.
Call the show at 1-800-Rock-Talk (1-800-762-5825) to talk
to Burton starting at 10PM. Canadian listeners can call at
704-570-9739.
You can find many of the The Guess Who's original RCA
releases, as well as a couple of good box sets at any music
store. However, just recently Buddha Records has re-issued
some hard to find Guess Who CD's. They are digitally re-mastered
and feature tracks that couldn't fit on the original vinyl
releases. Also, Burton Cummings gives you song by song inside
stories. They are awesome! Check them out here:

Also this week, Rodney Stich. He is the foremost authority
on terrorism and aviation. He was a key inspector-investigator
in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shortly after
it was formed. Its formation was brought about by public outrage
after a United Airlines DC-7 rammed into a TWA Lockheed Constellation
over the Grand Canyon in the late 1950s.
