Long time listeners to the Allan Handelman Show know that actor Al Lewis, best known as "Grampa" on The Munsters, is also just about our most requested guest. Outspoken, intelligent and always compelling, he connected with this audience unlike any other. From touring with AC/DC, to saying goodbye to Frank Zappa when everyone including Frank knew it would be his last interview.
Last year, Grampa, who is well into his 90's, almost died of complications from a routine hospital procedure. The recovery was very slow but on Wednesday we got some great news. Al is getting better and we hope he will be with us Sunday night. Al's lovely wife Karen Lewis will have compelling information to share with us on a subject that may surprise you.
Al "Grampa Munster" Lewis. Best known as the actor who played Grampa
on The Munsters and Snouser on Car 54. Today, well into
his 90's, he's still sharp as a tack. What makes Grampa
so interesting is his ability to talk about anything with
intelligence and a strong street sensibility. Great stories,
common sense wisdom and a "tell-it-like-it-is" attitude are some of the reasons he's so relevant today. He's toured with AC/DC, fought the FCC against censorship restrictions and ran for governor of New York. He even rallied to induct AC/DC into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and this year, thanks in part to Al, they made it! Just give Grampa a topic and let him go. The impending war, the republican landslide, sex, drugs, politics, or show business. Just ask Grampa!
Also this week, New York Times best selling author Dr. Wayne Dyer.
In his latest bookThe Power Of Inention, Wayne Dyer shows readers how to create better things everyday in all areas of life ranging from a simple trip to the supermarket to a complex business deal.
Dr. Dyer is often credited with beginning the self-development movement. A gifted speaker, he lectures around the world to groups numbering in the thousands, and has appeared on thousands of radio and television programs. Dyer is remembered for his first book, Your Erroneous Zones, published in 1976 when he was 35, and which was on the New York Times Bestseller List for more than a year. He holds a doctorate in counseling psychology from Wayne State University, and has taught at St. John's University in New York.
Dr. Dyer has researched intention as a force that allows the act of creation to take place. This book explores intention—not as something you do—but as something you're a part of. We're all intended here through the invisible power of intention. This is the first book to look at intention as a field of energy that you can access to begin co-creating your life with the power of intention.
The book also contains practical tips for overcoming stress, self-doubt, and fear as well as other negative thoughts. The Power Of Inention enables readers to indulge in their wildest dreams so that those dreams become reality.
